CDP: A Cascadian Dark Poem

We like our coffee rich and strong.
We like our winters mild and long.
We like when festivities last until dawn,
And our beers are all hoppy as fuck.

We play in the mountains and work by the seas.
We live in vast cities, all jam-packed with trees.
Then we soar through the skies with the greatest of ease,
Smacking nature aside with sheer pluck.

We code in the daylight then hack all night long.
We dazzle the mumbling world with our songs.
Our politics prove that the Right might be wrong,
Though. . . our pro sports teams do kinda suck.

And, yes, it does rain here a lot of the time,
But that keeps us free from the dirt and the grime
That otherwise saturates the lot of you slime,
So we just chalk that up to luck.

At the edge of the country, the edge of the world,
Cascadian flags are being unfurled
And in all of our actions and dreams, there lies curled
Redemption for life run amuck.
